What are the trends? Whose interests are met? Will economies collapse, if oil wells run dry? How much wind power can the electricity system take? What are the options, globally, and locally? Which options are feasible?

At SEP&M (Sustainable Energy Planning and Management), we research, develop and promote rationality in planning and policy-making that optimizes the benefits for global or local societies by making use of cost-effective energy technologies and clever policy strategies. We have realized that the demand and supply of energy reflect and interact with changes in society. And we have experienced that while decision-makers are struggling with different, often conflicting strategies, it is necessary to professionalize the way problems and options are analyzed. The complex relationship between the demand and supply for energy, democracy and its institutions, economy, and environment, are all part of the process of planning and managing a cost-effective sustainable development. We want you to become a sustainable energy professional. And an advocate for building societies in which a democratic rationality rules over market dominance. Whether you aim for a job in utility planning, government administration, energy consultancy, academic research, international institution, or in an NGO, we will prepare you to face the challenges in planning and managing energy sector developments, technology options, plans, and policies. Students from Sustainable Energy Planning and Management wins major french energy competition

"A victory ceremony in Paris and inspiration on a tour of Laos. That's the reward for 24-year-old Kim Clausen and three fellow students from Aalborg University's Master's program in Sustainable Energy Planning and Management after defeating 328 teams competing in a major French energy contest for university students and newly graduated engineers."

The task was to solve a number of assignments over a period of three weeks, with a new set of assignments each week. The underlying basis for the assignments was that the student had ended up on a volcanic island, where they had to secure the best avaiable energy supply. An example was to calculate if it was best to invest in a new hydroelectric power plant rather than to continue with fossile fuels. Red more here
